Fitness and Conditioning 11 & 12 are Physical and Health Education courses that focus on; - How our personal fitness can be maintained or enhanced through participation in a variety of activities at different intensity levels. - Knowing how our bodies move and function helps us stay safe during exercise. - Following proper training guidelines and techniques can help us reach our health and fitness goals. - Personal choices influence our health and fitness goals.
Overview
Fitness and Conditioning 11 & 12 (F&C) are full year Physical and Health Education (PHE) electives (4 credit points). Students electing to take F&C will participate in regularly scheduled classes as well field trips trips during class time. F&C 11/12 is an elective that can be taken in a students' grade 11, or 12 year. The prerequisites for this course is PHE10.
Activities
In-class and field-trip activities include: Fitness and Conditioning (cardiovascular fitness, circuit training, yoga, HIIT and strength training). Teaching Games for Understanding Units Field Trips - Indoor Rowing, Spinning, TRX, HIIT circuits, Barre, 30min HIT, boot camp & pilates Performance Athletes Leadership Human anatomy and physiology Partial Fitness Theory Certification First Aid Training and CPR-C Sports nutrition, supplementation and performance enhancing drugs

Fitness and Conditioning 11 & 12 is recommend for any students considering further study in kinesiology, sports science, sports medicine, Physical and Health Education or other related fields. Additionally, for students interested in participating in university or in competitive teams beyond high school this course is strongly recommended.
